Självunderhåll

Självunderhåll is a health and safety leaflet concept designed for IKEA stores, created in collaboration with the NHS. The project reimagines how lifesaving health procedures and safety guidance could be communicated to the public, using IKEA's iconic flat-pack manual illustration style to make potentially complex information feel immediately approachable, familiar, and easy to follow. The concept leans into the idea that IKEA's visual language is one of the most universally understood communication systems in the world. By borrowing that framework and applying it to first aid and safety guidance, the leaflet feels right at home in store while reaching people in a genuinely useful way. The project was awarded third place in the Dragon Rouge Firestarters competition 2022, a prestigious industry brief open to design students across the UK. The placing earned me a month working at Dragon Rouge's London studio between my second and third year of university.
